FAQ

Each case is unique, so we cannot provide a fixed "timeline" for resolving your case. However, we can explain how our cooperation typically unfolds. Initially, we will clarify together which legal services will be needed for your situation. We will then send you a price offer and the conditions for the provision of legal services. Afterward, we will thoroughly review your case based on the materials you provide, such as documents, written communications, etc. If necessary, we will also assess international jurisdiction and applicable law. We will inform you of our findings and recommend the next steps. These may include negotiating with the opposing party, preparing a contract or agreement, or drafting a motion to initiate court proceedings. Throughout our cooperation, we will keep you regularly updated on progress and consult with you on the next steps.
Although we are based in Prague, we are happy to represent you in proceedings and negotiations in other cities across the Czech Republic. With a power of attorney, we can handle some negotiations on your behalf without your presence. If necessary, we can also accompany or represent you abroad; for example, we frequently operate in Paris, Brussels, and Madrid. The costs associated with travel will be transparently negotiated when concluding the contract for legal services.
To some extent, yes, and we would also be happy to represent you in negotiations with foreign partners. However, our legal services can only be provided in accordance with Czech, European, and international law. For example, we cannot analyze a legal case governed by the laws of a country other than the Czech Republic. We are also not authorized to represent you before courts or other public authorities of countries outside the Czech Republic or the European Union, nor before authorities of international organizations. If such support is needed, we will connect you with our trusted foreign partners.
We have the expertise to determine jurisdiction according to both international and national rules. In simple terms, this involves answering the questions: Where should the dispute be resolved, and under which rules? We address these questions as part of our legal services. If your case involves a cross-border element (e.g., foreign nationality, residence outside the Czech Republic, a contract concluded abroad, or damage occurring abroad), the first step is to establish international jurisdiction. This will determine the country where the matter needs to be resolved and where the proceedings, such as a court case, will take place.
Determining the legal rules that govern your case often requires a thorough legal analysis and has a significant impact on the correct assessment of the entire matter. If your case involves a cross-border element (e.g., foreign nationality, residence outside the Czech Republic, a contract concluded abroad, or damage occurring abroad), the first step is to establish international jurisdiction and determine the applicable law. We will, of course, assess these issues for you as well.
We will connect with our foreign partners, communicate with foreign authorities in their language, and stay in contact with you throughout the entire case.
Of course. Most of our work takes place online, and we're fully prepared for it. Our meetings can be held via applications such as MS Teams, Skype, Zoom, Google Hangouts, WhatsApp, and others. If you prefer a personal meeting, we’re also happy to meet you in person.
We primarily communicate via email, but to be as accessible as possible, we also use WhatsApp, Signal, and other platforms. We always communicate in a language you understand, whether it’s Czech, English, French, or Spanish.
We strive to be available to our clients outside of standard business hours to assist with urgent matters. If you’re facing a time-sensitive issue, feel free to contact us.
The specific terms depend on your case. Most clients pay for our services based on an hourly rate, which we agree upon at the start of our cooperation. Typically, we send clients a monthly invoice for services provided in the previous month, along with a detailed breakdown. In some cases, we may negotiate a fixed fee for a specific task, meaning the total fee for legal services will remain unchanged. For long-term and regular cooperation, we can also agree on a more favorable monthly flat rate, often used for the services of an external corporate lawyer.
Before we begin work, an advance payment for legal services is required. This deposit will be reflected in the invoices issued, allowing you to keep track of its amount. You can learn more about the deposit in the terms and conditions for the provision of legal services, which we will send you before starting our cooperation.
We accept payments in Czech crowns and euros. The specific currency will be agreed upon when concluding the contract for legal services.
We provide legal services in four languages: Czech, English, French, and Spanish. We are fully prepared to communicate with you in these languages to ensure that the resolution of your case is as clear as possible. We will always communicate with you in your preferred language and provide all information, invoices, and service breakdowns accordingly. However, communication with Czech authorities and institutions must be conducted in Czech. Upon request, we can provide translations of these communications (for example, we can send you a translated draft of a lawsuit for your review, etc.).
